Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Pizza

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 medium yellow onions, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 ounces chevre (soft goat cheese), room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 egg yolk
