My Mission in the Kitchen
My cooking inspiration comes from God and His creation. How amazing that God gave us such variety of colors, textures, and aromas in our food alone. It’s really astounding. And beyond that, He made our bodies capable of detecting these delightful variations. Just consider for a moment–what if we could only taste saltiness, or couldn’t smell our coffee in the morning. Life would be such a different experience. I remember in grade school, I hated the mashed-potatoes-in-a-box served at lunchtime. In order to get a second serving of my beloved green beans, I had to finish the potatoes. Every time they were served, I would close my eyes and plug my nose while forcing down the disgusting white glob. It felt so odd, knowing that I was eating something, but having no concept of its taste. But like having “taste blindness,” my sense of its texture was heightened, and I can still remember it. And I’m happy to have left that sensation behind in the cafeteria! All of this to say that I am so thankful for the variety that exists at my local grocer.
Food is more than sustenance; it was made to be enjoyed. And its bountiful variety only points to our great Creator’s love, provision, and endless creativity! I can’t even comprehend the great variety of food around the world.
KrausnicKitchen.com was born out of my need to be a more efficient home cook. I wondered how to best use what has been provided. How could I prepare delicious, wholesome meals on a budget? This blog is a way of tracking the recipes I have tried. It has improved the way my family eats. It has affected my meal planning and motivated me to be creative in the kitchen. It’s been such a blessing, and I hope it blesses your family when the dinner bell rings.
